Site-specific to the Bata Shoe Museum on Bloor Street West in Toronto, Chõros highlights the acoustical problem that a city is, and the degree to which buildings and architectural materials influence sound in urban environments.
All space is silent until you engage with it. Space exists into and of itself, but our engagement with it makes space meaningful. Chõros is an interactive art installation that explores the way people interact with space to make meaning. At its core, Chõros is built around the idea that space is imbued with presence, and that actions within a space have sonic repercussions. This piece visually maps the exchange between the people in a space and the space itself through interaction with sound.
