Between spatial and relational / intimacy and form
Folds explores the correlation between space and emotive experience. Working between a 'field condition' and a 'room', this work included an experimental performance that tested notions of intimacy (enclosure) and distance (expanse).
By experimenting with different spatial and formal elements in an enclosed setting (a set of curtains and a field of harvested prairie grass), this work explores how these forms (conditions) give rise to different relational experiences within social environments.
Through a series of scores, this work raises questions about interactive and relational experience with living entities, such as plants. How do our social interactions change when we are in a field surrounded by plants versus an enclosed room? Are we also in dialogue with space?
