Old Growth, public art
A commission for Greg Sather of McCallumSather Architects in Hamilton, ON. This project initiated my interest in relationships between public space, architecture, art, and the city. Old Growth recalls the archetypical forest as a metaphor for dwelling and relationships between the body and urban space. The work is created from a single vantage point across the street in a busy section of downtown Hamilton, illuminating questions of perspective, orientation, and the construction of view corridors in the city.
